Buttons

There are two sets of buttons, fixed and flexible. The fixed buttons (Mic, Msg, Redial, Hold, Conf/Trn and Vol) are standard to every Strata DK 2000-series telephone. The flexible buttons consist of Directory Number (Primary, Secondary, Phantom) and feature buttons. The number of preprogrammed flexible buttons varies by telephone.

     

Fixed Buttons

Fixed buttons are located on your dial pad and enable you to perform standard functions quickly and easily.

Cnf/Trn
(Conference/Transfer)
Hold
  • Puts an internal or external call on hold
Mic
(Microphone)
  • Press to toggle the microphone ON/OFF while the telephone is in use. The LED indicates the status of the microphone.
  • The microphone and accompanying LED are always ON when receiving "voice first" internal (DN) calls to enable Handsfree Answerback and OFF if you receive a ring-first call. Mic may be ON/OFF when placing an on-hook CO line or internal (DN) call.
Msg
(Message)
  • When Msg LED flashes, press Msg to call back the station or voice mail device that activated the LED. This is the telephone's (PDN) message waiting button.
Redial
  • Calls the last number called.
    Note: if you have Automatic Line Selection, you must first lift the handset.
Spkr
(Speaker)
  • Press to toggle the speaker ON/OFF. The LED indicates the status of the speaker.
    Note: Spkr must be pressed and held down when switching from Handset to Speakerphone mode.
Vol
  • Press to adjust volume levels
   

Flexible Buttons    

All flexible buttons must be programmed for your telephone in system programming and vary for individual telephones. Telexperts technicians can program your telephone keystrip labels and button assignments.

Directory Button Definitions

PDN (Primary Directory Number):
Press to answer a call to the Primary Directory Number or to initiate a phone call. The PDN is specifically your Extension Number or Intercom Number. Your telephone can have up to four PDN buttons with your number. You can set Call Forward and Voice Mail ID code for PDN.

SDN (Secondary Directory Number):
A PDN of another telephone which appears on your telephone is considered a SDN. You cannot set Call Forward and Voice Mail ID code for SDNs on your telephone.

PhDN (Phantom Directory Number):
Up to eight Phantom Directory Numbers can be dedicated to a station or shared by a group of stations. One example of a Phantom Directory Number application is when it is used as a common phone number for an entire department. For instance, when the PhDN appears on a group of telephones, such as the Sales Department, it will ring on all of the telephones of the group when it is called. You can only set Call Forward and Voice Mail ID code for PhDNs that are owned by your telephone. You can have a separate message waiting button and mailbox for up to four PhDNs on your telephone.

Place an Internal Call

  • Lift the handset or press Spkr key (for spearkerphone operation)
  • Dial the extension number
  • When finished with the call, hang up or press Spkr

Place and External Call

  • Lift the handset or press Spkr key (for speakerphone operation)
    ...or if you do not have Automatic Line Selection, you can:
    -press Line
    -or Pooled Line key
    -or CO line or line group access code (default '9')
  • Dial the telephone number
  • When finished with the call, hang up or press Spkr

Hold

  • Press once to hold internal or outside calls. The Line LED flashes green at the internal hold rate.
    ...or press twice to enable Exclusive Hold. The Line LED flashes green at the exclusive hold rate.
    Note: Exclusive Hold enables you to place a call on hold so that only you or somebody using a Call Pickup code at another station can retrieve it.
  • To retrieve a call on hold:
    -Press Line or (DN) which is on hold
    ...or if the call is on Exclusive Hold, from another station dial #5 plus your DN, or dial #5#7 plus the CO line number (001-200) that the call is held on.

Answer an Incoming Call

  • Lift the handset or press Spkr (for speakerphone operation)
    ...or if you do not have Ringing Line Preference, press the flashing DN, Line, or Pooled Line Grp and lift the handset

Incoming Call Notification - Muted ringing while you are on a call indicates an incoming call. If another call comes in during the first call, relase, transfer, or place the call on hold, then answer the second call.

Place and Retrieve a Call on Hold

  • When you are connected to a line, press the red HOLD key
  • Note which line is holding
  • To retrieve the call...press the green flashing Line key

Transfer a Call

  • When you are collected to a Line
  • Press CNF/TRN key and dial the extension number
    (or press the DSS key of the person you are transferring to)
  • Stay on the line to announce the call (optional)
  • Hang up the handset and the call will be transferred

ABR - Auto Busy Redial

When dialing an outside line and you get a busy signal:

  • Press the ABR key (or CNF/TRN #44) and hang up

The phone will dial the number automatically up to 15 times. When the line becomes available you will hear it ring through the speaker. Pick up the handset and proceed with the call.

To cancel:

  • Press ABR key (or press INT key then dial #44)

ACB - Automatic Call Back

When call a busy internal station:

  • Lift Handset
  • Press ACB key (or dial 4)
  • Replace handset

When the busy station is free, you will be notified by a tone. Picky up your handset and you will be connected.

To cancel:

  • Lift Handset
  • Press ACB key (or press INT then dial #43)

Auto Redial

You can automatically Redial the last number called (outside or internal) by pressing the REDIAL button.

  • Press the same Line or INT key you used to place the call
  • Press the REDIAL button

DND - Do Not Disturb

When DND is on, internal calls or transferred calls cannot get through. They will go immediately back to the originating station.

  • To turn on: press DND and the red light comes on
  • To turn off: press DND and the light will go off

Paging

To make an All Call Page:

  • Lift the handset and press (Page)
    ...or INT #39
  • Announce your page
  • Hang up

To Set and Answer Message Waiting

  • Call an Internal Station
  • If unanswered, press the MSG key
  • Hang up, the message light will flash at the called station
  • If MSG key is flashing on your phone
  • Lift handset
  • Press the MSG key and you will be connected to the station that called

To cancel Message Waiting:

  • Call the Station where you set Message Waiting, then press the MSG key twice

To cancel from the Called Station:

  • Press INT #409

Save

To save a particular number to easy access:

  • Press SAVE key

This number will be saved until you save another in its place
To dial the saved number:

  • Lift the handset
  • Select a free CO or dial 9
  • Press the SAVE key

BGM - Back Ground Music

If you have music on hold on your phone system, you may listem to the music through your telephone speaker:

  • Leave handset on-hook
  • Press BGM key to turn on light
  • If you don't have that key press INT #481 then SPKR key

To turn off BGM:

  • Press BGM key to turn on light
  • Or press INT #480 then SPKR key

Conference Calls

You can have a maximum of 2 outside lines and 2 internal stations or 1 outside line and 3 internal stations on a conference call at one time.

Supervised Conference:

  • Press the CNF/TRN key
  • Take another line and make connection or dial the internal station
  • Press CNF/TRN again

All parties are now connected. You can add another person to the conference call by repeating the above steps.
If you get a busy or answered line, you can return to the call by pressing the original INT or Line, or hang up and the original connection will recall you immediately.

Unsupervised Conference:

  • Set up a supervised conference as above
  • You can then drop out pressing CNF/TRN key and hanging up

The other parties are still connected.

Call Forward All Calls - forwards all calls immediately to a selected DN, your telephone does not ring when called.

To Activate:

  • Press INT #601
  • Enter Station (DN) to forward to
  • Press SPKR

To Cancel:

  • Press INT #601
  • Press SPKR
Remember to cancel call forwarding when you have returned to your desk.

Call Forward Busy - forwards calls immediately when your station. (PDN) or (PhDN) is busy or in the DND mode.

To Activate:

  • Press INT #602
  • Enter Station (DN) to forward to
  • Press SPKR

To Cancel:

  • Press INT #602
  • Press SPKR
Remember to cancel call forwarding when you have returned to your desk.

Call Forward No Answer - forwards all calls to your station is you fail to answer within a designated time (set by you when you enable the feature). Your station can be programmed to bypass Call Forward-No Answer when receiving Voice First (handsfree) calls.

To Activate:

  • Press INT #603
  • Enter Station (DN) to forward to
  • Press SDS key
  • Enter the seconds to ring before forwarding (12-60)
  • Press REDIAL key then SPKR

To Cancel:

  • Press INT #603
  • Press SPKR
Remember to cancel call forwarding when you have returned to your desk.

Call Forward Busy/No Answer - forwards all calls to your station immediately whenever you are busy, in DND mode, or after ringing and you do not answer the call within a designated time (set by you when you enable the feature).

To Activate:

  • Press INT #604
  • Enter Station (DN) to forward to
  • Press SDS key
  • Enter the seconds to ring before forwarding (12-60)
  • Press REDIAL key then SPKR

To Cancel:

  • Press INT #604
  • Press SPKR

 

Remember to cancel call forwarding when you have returned to your desk.

Call Forward External - forwards new incoming calls directed to your (PDN) to a destination outside of the system. (PhDNs) assigned to your telephone do not call forward to external destinations. Internal calls and transferred calls to your (PDN) also do not forward to external destinations.

Only incoming calls over CO lines dedicated to immediately ring over (PDN), the private CO LINE button, and/or DID line, call forward externally. Any other Call Forward modes can be set for your (PDNs) or (PhDNs) simultaneously with Call Forward-External.

To Activate:
Step One (store the number in memory)

  • With the handset on the hook
  • Press REDIAL the SDS key
  • Enter the code number 49
  • Enter the phone number to forward to
  • Press REDIAL

Step One (set call forwarding)

  • Press INT 670
  • Press SPKR

To Cancel:

  • Press INT 670
  • Press SPKR

Remember to cancel call forwarding when you have returned to your desk.

Store a Speed Dial Number (non-screen) - Speed dial codes are 10-49 for personal and 60-90 for system speed dials. Each phone can store and access its own personal speed dials. The system speed dials are stored at Reception and can be accessed by all phones.

  • Leave handset on-hook
  • Press REDIAL key then SDS key
  • Enter speed dial code
  • Enter the phone number to be stored at this code (dial 9 + number)
  • Press REDIAL to save to memory
  • Write down the codes and numbers for your reference

  • The number will dial automatically, proceed with call

Store a Speed Dial with a Name on LCD Phones

  • Leave handset on hook
  • Press REDIAL key then SDS key
  • Enter speed dial code (10-49 personal, 60-90 system)
  • Press Mode key followed by # (to access alphabet)
  • Enter the name using the key pad:

- 1 moves the cursor to the right
- * moves the cursor th the left
- 0 shifts between the 3 letters on each key
- # alternates between alpha and numeric
- the following characters are set by pressing 1 and then pressing 0 to step through the available characters: Q, Z, :, -, +, /.

  • Press MODE button
  • Enter phone number to be stored (dial 9 + number)
  • Press REDIAL key to record the number in memory

To view your stored speed dial numbers on your phone display:

  • Press MODE + 8
  • Enter the code number you wish to start at
  • Press PAGE to view each entry in turn
  • Press MODE + 0 to get back normal display

  • The number will dial automatically, proceed with call

Date / Time / Day Adjustment - this operation is only possible from port 00 only (usually station 200 on DK 280/424 and 10 on DK40), and allows you to set the date, time, and day.

To set the Date:

  1. Place handset on-hook
  2. Dial INT #651
  3. Dialy the date
  4. Press the REDIAL button
  5. Press the SPKR button

To set the Time:

  1. Place handset on-hook
  2. Dial INT #652
  3. Dial the Time
  4. Press the REDIAL button
  5. Press the SPKR button

To set the Day:

  1. Place handset on-hook
  2. Dial INT #653
  3. Dial the day
    (1=Sunday | 2=Monday | 3=Tuesday | 4=Wednesday | 5=Thursday
    6=Friday | 7=Saturday)
  4. Press the REDIAL button
  5. Press the SPKR button
